What's the deal with Hollywood re-making "classic" movies!?!?!

Question: What's the deal with Hollywood re-making "classic" movies!!?!!?
I'm a big fan of the 80s, of the movies especially!.

Already they're planning on re-making Dirty Dancing, starring Mario Lopez and Footloose, starring Zac Efron (y'know!.!.!. from Highschool "TotalGreaseRipOff" Musical)!. Two of which are very notable 80s movies!.
And I'm scared to think now, just what the hell they're planning on destroying next!

Heathers!?!?!?
The Breakfast Club!?!?!?
How about Labyrinth!?
Or even The Goonies!? (though - like Labyrinth - a sequel is being spoken of already!)

Dear Hollywood,
Quit re-making movies; quit making book adaptions, video-game adaptions!.!.!. etc!.!.!. and think of something new!!!!
If you don't!.!.!.!. WE SHALL HAVE OUR REVENGE! ;)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
yuhh, i heard about that; they are making every classic horror movie as well!.

nightmare on elm street, friday the 13th, child's play, and others!.!.

Hollywood is too lazy to come up with original stuff! :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

There’s nothing wrong with a remake!. Sophcles’ play Electra was a remarke of the Libation Bearers of Aeschylus, and Eurpides in turn wrote his own play Electra on the same subject!.

And of course, before the tragedies there were now-lost versions of the story in various poems!. Home’s Odyssey refers to the story a number of times!.

Shakespeare’s Hamlet was a remake of an earlier play of the same name, perhaps written by Thomas Kyd!. The award-winning 2007 film Sweeny Todd produced by Tim Burton was essentially a remake of earlier films and television adaptations of earlier printed works, most particularly the 1982 television production of the Stephen Sondheim stage musical which is available on DVD!.

In short, there is no reason why a remake should necessarily be bad!.

True, most remakes are worse than the earlier films!. But they don’t destroy the originals!. They just flounder around for a bit, and are then forgotten, along with bad and mediocre films that are not remakes!.

Sometimes they are better!.

The classic Bogart film “The Maltese Falcon” was the third Hollywood film to be based on the same story!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i absolutely agree
they're planning to do a remake of friday the 13th, and a sequel to Freddy vs!. Jason!! with michael myers in it!!!!!

not only are they redoing classic horror movies, they're also bringing in every other horror movie that comes out in japan into the states
the ring , the grudge, one missed call, pulse, all remakes

even martin scorsese is remaking asian films: the departed (although brilliant) was adapted from a hong kong film called infernal affairsWww@Enter-QA@Com

Ok,gang,I'll say it again!. Hollywood has been remaking movies almost from the time there were movies!. Why!? Simple!. If it worked once,it''ll work again(of course they haven't got the memo that this is seldom the case) also, they count on"name value" and pray to God that the flim won't suck too much(another serious lapse in judgement) and make a profit!. They don't seem to understand that throwing money at a piece of s&^t won't make it a better filmWww@Enter-QA@Com

It's the same crap they pulled a few years ago when they went through all the comic book heroes!. It's called "lack of creativity"!. The powers that be are working hard to get rid of free thought and creativity because it is a major threat to them!. This has been reflected in all of the arts, including movies!. Sad!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They're running out of ideas, so they're remaking old movies a lot of the time!. It's sad, really!.!.!. because about 1% of those remakes are actually better than the original!. Did you see "Prom Night"!? Probably the worst example of what you're talking about I've ever seen!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Hollywood has gone down the toilet in the last 20 years or so!. Everything they put out is a remake or a theft of a story/character from decades ago!. They have NO creativity left!. Just look at the crap on tv these days too!. Survivor!? Big Brother!? Where have all the creative people gone!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

HAHA I totally agree!. Though I think the only reason they make old movies, is because of the whole concept, "If it was popular then, if we remake it, maybe it will be just AS popular!" Ugh!. NOOOO! Not another remake of Dirty Dancing! The last one was bad enough!. *SIGH*Www@Enter-QA@Com

If Zac Efron stars in Footloose then Hollywood has lost all passion for movie making!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Like Creature From The Black Lagoon!.!.!.that's gonna be horrible!. I hope that The Wolf Man will be decent, though probably not!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I so agree!.
That is seriousley stupid!.
Why cant they just come up with something original!Www@Enter-QA@Com

yeah i know!. i guess they're making tons of moneyWww@Enter-QA@Com
