What is the name of this movie? I saw this film on the late movie when I was 11 !

Question: What is the name of this movie!? I saw this film on the late movie when I was 11 y!.o!.!?
I can not remember the name of it for the life of me, or who acted in it!. I am guessing that it was made in the 1950's!. It is a story about a teen age street gang involved with a murder!. The detective/district attorney can not prove who did it!. The main things that I remember is that one of the delinquents wears a cape and is called Batman because he is always reading comic books (I also believe that this character is slow witted)!. Another one of the teens is blind!. I think the detective is looking for a zip-gun for evidance and is having trouble finding it!. If any one knows the name of this film I would love to see it as an adult!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The Young Savages (1961)
starring Burt Lancaster, Shelley Winters, Dina Merrill, Edward Andrews, Telly Savalas, Neil Nephew (as Anthony "Batman" Aposto), John David Chandler, Stanley Adams, Chris Robinson
IMDB review ***SPOILERS***
1961 motion picture loosely based on the notorious August 30,1959, Salvador Agron "Capeman killings" in New York City's Hell's Kitchen!. The movie has the racial backgrounds of victim and killer reversed, which made the film a bit disingenuous to the moviegoing public back then in 1961, just two years after that terrible event!. The killer, Salvador Agron, was Hispanic, and his two teenage victims, Anthony Krezsinski and Robert Young, were white!.
In "The Young Savages", three members of the white Manhattan street gang The Thunderbirds cross into Spanish Harlem on the turf of the local Puerto Rican gang The Horsemen and zero in on young and sensitive harmonica-playing Roberto Escalante, knifing him to death!. They are caught minutes after the killing!.
With D!.A Daniel Cole wanting a first degree murder conviction of the teenage assailants to give him a boost in the upcoming gubernatorial elections, he puts his best prosecutor on the case!. The defendants claiming they killed Roberto in self-defense, but their excuse falls apart like a house of cards when it is revealed that he was totally blind and a threat to no one!. It now starts to look as if Cole would get the first degree murder conviction that can send the youths, all under 18, to the electric chair!.

I've seen this film several times, most recently several months ago, so I vividly recall "Batman"!. The boy's scene as he's questioned is a standout in this powerful film that doesn't get aired as often as it should!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
