Fans of "The Goonies"?!

Question: Fans of "The Goonies"!?
So, I decided to introduce "The Goonies" to my 4 year old daughter!. This was a movie I loved as a child, and still love to this day!. =)
Anyway, the question!
As I was watching this movie over and over this weekend, it made me wonder something!. What really was the reason of everyone having to move out of the goondocks!? I know that Troy's dad wanted the land for a golf course or country club!. But what gave him the authority to take the land and why did they need money to get it back!. I feel like it was never explained!. One of my friends told me that I'm looking to much into this, that its just a kids film and that's not important to the plot!. But, does anyone know!?
Thoughts!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Well in the real world if you're behind on property taxes you have until the day the deed actually changes hands to pay your back taxes and win back your land!. However it's not likely all the Goonie's families would have gone broke at the same time!. Gosh, it's a good question!.!.!.I mean in reality the only way your land can be taken from you voluntarily is if the government takes it as "eminent domain!." Not likely they'd do that so some guy can build a golf course!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I loooooved it too!!! Its a great movie and one of my favorites growing up and I watch it now with my daughter!. Cant forget the Truffle Shuffle!! LOL!

I believe the house was in foreclosure and they had to pay what they owed in back payments or the land would be sold to the developers for a new housing track!.

I tried to do some more looking up on this but I couldnt really find anything except the same thing I said above!. It also comes in book form!.!.!. so that might tell more!.

HAHAHA, anyway, I never got that either about why they needed to move!. But that movie has FANTASTIC memories for me!. Oh my goodness, when I'm watching that movie I feel like a kid again and all my adult problems just fall away for a while!

troy's dad was pressured to sell or the golf course developer was going to have the properties condemned by the county so he could buy them for a fraction of the cost, if i remember correctlyWww@Enter-QA@Com

It was in foreclosure!. If they found the treasure they could pay off the mortgage and save the house!. That's why they decided to go on the treasure hunt!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The corporation was foreclosing on everyone there!. Troy's dad held the note so was going to call it in!.

Goonies is a great movie!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Troy's dad was more than likely associated with a bank or the mortgage company where the houses were located!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I thought it was in forclosure or about to beWww@Enter-QA@Com

Forclosure

The story then shifts focus onto Michael "Mikey" Walsh (Sean Astin), an adolescent depressed by the knowledge that, the next morning, his father will sign a contract allowing greedy developers to foreclose on the Goon Docks (with plans to demolish the community and redevelop the site of the houses with a golf course)!. Along with his friends Richard "Data" Wang (Jonathan Ke Quan), Lawrence "Chunk" Cohen (Jeff_Cohen), and Clark "Mouth" Devereaux (Corey Feldman), a restless Mikey rummages through the family attic and finds an old treasure map supposedly leading to the secret treasure of legendary 17th century pirate One-Eyed Willie!. Inspired by the possibility of a means to save their homes from demolition, Mikey, Data, Mouth and a reluctant Chunk run off on a quest to follow the map and find One-Eyed Willie's stash!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
