No, the sci-fi genre has spawned many films much worse than Dune!. Most of them, though, were low-budget Z-movies made for uncritical audiences!. I think Dune takes the prize for worst sci-fi movie made from a great book!. It was a big-budget turkey from a big-name producer and director, and a huge disappointment!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
No, the worst Sci-Fi film ever was "Black Hole," made by one of Disney's subsidiaries!. Roddy McDowell turned in a crappy performance as a stupid talking robot!. I haven't even seen "Dune" and I can tell you that this movie makes it look like Oscar material by comparison!. For the sci-fi community it is considered one of the greats!. mostly because the book was one of a kind!.
Personally when I first watched it I would have to agree with you, it was long and drawn out and in our age of really good special effects, it has lost its lust of when it was made over 20 years ago!. But after reading the books I can honestly say that it is not half bad!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

That one was bad, but there have been worse ones!. Even the mini-series was not good!. No film maker has been able to capture the essence of the book, yet!.
