I liked the movie, even though it was very disturbing to me!.
I agree, that scene was annoying to me also!. She couldn't be any clearer in telling them that her dad was right there!. Either they were too terrified with what was happening and just saw a child that needed to be "saved" or maybe it just boils down to adults never listen to anything a child has to say!.
