Question: George Lucas, is this guy a genius!?
He started the whole thing with episode 4!. Did he know he was going to go back and have a prequel!?He could have stopped after the original Star Wars and the wole story would still have made sence!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, but for a slightly different reason!. You're right that he could have left it at 4 and have it make sense, but he reall y took a gamble on it!. He always wanted to do all six (and has gone back and forth on wheteher or not to do nine), but when he started he had very little money (for a movie producer), and was barely able to get funding for one movie!. He decided (wisely) that even if his well wriiten episode 4 happened to fail, it would still be good enough to stand alon, and if it was a success he would have the money to make the rest of his movies!. I think he did very well, though the writing was a little worse in the newer ones!. I'm a huge fan of all the movies, and George Lucas!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Even a genius has his flaws!. (And I do think him to be a bit of a genius, to be able to think up an entire universe, like he did!.)
I think episode 3 was pretty good, and episode 2 was iffy!. We could have done without the slapstick in episode 1, though!.
It just sort of cheapened everything!. It was a good idea to put episode 4 out first, though!.!.!. star wars never would have made it very far if he had started with episode 1, back in 1978!.
I think if he told the Anakin story with Anakin going bad from the start, alot of people would have been turned off after episode 3!. (Not to mention they wouldn't have liked Luke's whiney character at all, in contrasting him to his father!.)Www@Enter-QA@Com

He was a fan of myth (The Force) and Saturday Morning serials (mini adventures strunk into a whole film!. Think of the first Star Wars with all the little mini cliffhangers!.
Lucas developed Star Wars as nine parts!. He made middle part first--that is Star Wars (now called a New Hope), The Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi!. Then he went back and did the presequel!. He has minded the mill with the Clone Wars TV seriesWww@Enter-QA@Com

He is a genius but it goes further than Star Wars which had it's moments in the prequel trilogy but he would have never been able to make a sequel (ie empire) had he released it now adays with the hyper tension and over anilization folks have today with movies Star Wars would have bombed!.
