How does one go about trying out for a movie?!
Question: How does one go about trying out for a movie!?
I know, I know!.!.!. it's all about who you know!.!.!. I don't want to hear that as a response!.!.!. how would one go about getting into a try-out for a big movie!? How would one grab the attention of a Director to try out for a position in one of his/her movies!? I have a friend who was in a few movies who would probably throw my name out there if I need it, but how could I go about this without having him do that!? And how would one go about signing up as an extra in a larger movie!?

You find an agent, get your head shots and pound the pavement!. Even an extra needs an agent!.
The likely hood of being "discovered" by word of mouth is pretty nill!.
Occasionally though there may be open auditions for things - check the classifieds in your city for those, even still you will need head-shots and often an agent!. Production companies rarely deal with people with no representation for many legal and ethical reasons!.
