I thought it was a brilliant satire of totalitarian bureaucracy that obviously owed a lot to "1984"!. It contrasts man's dreams and aspirations with a fascist reality!. There was a director's cut that was more explicit about how the protagonist escaped into fantasy at the end!. The theatrical version was rather ambiguous about when this happens, which I actually preferred!. I understand there was a televised version with the ending cut off so you would probably never figure it out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Ugh--yes, I watched it in a weird basement while working in Korea and, like its prequel "Time Bandits", it left me with a horrible feeling deep in my stomach--the kind of movie that alters everything in my mind in such an uncomfortable way that all I can do is shower and sleep it off!. I know Terry Gilliam is a genius, but there's something about these films that terrify me!. No other films have made me feel the way Time Bandits and Brazil did!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I saw it once, way back in high school!. I was way too young to appreciate it, so I didn't get much out of it!. However, I was really scared by the concept of a fascist bureaucracy!. I also thought the retro-futuristic look was pretty interesting (for example, the telephones with operator cables in them)Www@Enter-QA@Com
