How Does "Charlie" Compare To The Original "Willy Wonka"?!

Question: How Does "Charlie" Compare To The Original "Willy Wonka"!?
I have seen the new one "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" but I have never seen the 1971 original!. If I did see it then I don't remember it!. Is Charlie better/worse than the original!?

The only thing that I know for sure that they changed is the Oompa Loompas!. In "Charlie" they were not the fat, rounded midgets and they didn't do the "Oompa Loompa doo-pe-de-do " song in the newer one!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
Charlie is much more focused on the character of Willy Wonka!. The original was centered explicitly around the boy!. There isn't any backstory for the character of Wonka, either, as there is in the newer film (Wonka's father a dentist, etc!.)!.

Plus, I've gotta say, you HAVE to use midgets as Oompa Loompas!. I was very bummed not to see midgets in the Burton film!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think you can say one is "better" or "worse," but they are definitely two different films!. Like one of the other girls said, the older version focuses on Charlie and his family a lot more, and Wilder's Wonka is a sort of sinister while still being goofy and mysterious at the same time!. Depp's Wonka has a backstory of how he got to be that way, but is somehow creepier to me!.

The thing I liked about the newer one is that the lyrics of the songs were Roald Dahl's original lyrics, but I will always love the Oompa Loompa song from the first movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

In my opinion, they are two completely different movies!. Though I LOVED Jonny Depp in the 'remake!.' It just wan't the same!. You should definately see the original, it's a classic! I would give the old version 4/5 stars and the new one only
2!.5-3/5!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
