it has become a cinema iconic performance for Pacino!. he plays the poor guy turned madman gangster very well!. the script, direction, soundscore etc are as big a star as he is!. the plastic life that they all strive for was the Reagan Thatcher era which the film captures very well!. The scoring of the music is very shallow to reflect this time period!. but Pacino's performance can be seen a little bit stereotyping a latin - cuban accent at times and the film has now been rather over qouted but essentially it is an anti-drugs film!.!.!.!. message there are no OLD gangsters!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
People have built it up *way* too much!.
It's fast paced, it's gory, it's a good story, it's entertaining, and Pacino is pitch perfect!.
But it's not this gigantic, massive, towering, sweeping classic!.
Now, this is from someone who *owns* the DVD, mind you!. I mean I like it, but people say it's Top 10!? No!. Still, you will be entertained!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I thought it was incredibly overrated!.
For Pacino's best I'd say rent Dog Day Afternoon and Serpico!. To be honest though I haven't really liked Pacino in anything else I've seen other than those two films!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
