Upon their arrival, they meet Rose and George Loomis (Marilyn Monroe and Joseph Cotten), who are overstaying their time in the reserved cabin!. Though Polly and Ray agree to stay in a nearby cabin, that is not the last they see of the Loomises, a strange couple indeed!. One day, Polly sees Rose passionately kissing another man (Richard Allan)!. Then, the sly Rose angers her husband by playing a seemingly reminiscent song on a record player a few other couples are dancing to, pushing George into destroying the record in his hands!. It becomes apparent that something far more than infidelity is going on, and without giving away too many of the plot twists, murder ensues!.
Actually, this is my favorite MM drama, and I've lost count of the times I've watched it!. Film noir usually is filled with shadows and furtiveness, but this one plays out with the thundering roar of Niagara Falls in the background!. One of the best scenes is the vengeful George stalking Rose in the belltower!. I always think what a wonderful touch afterward it is that he seems so griefstricken over what he has done!. It's as if it was one of those "seeing red" moments, and he comes to his senses far too late!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
