Where would I start if I want to become a filmmaker!? Since I'm so young, could I even start at this age!?
And also, would it be possible to start out as a "go-fer"!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I share your dream!. I'm 16 right now and well on my way I suppose!.

My suggestion: Find an access television station!. If the one in your city is any good, they will offer courses!. The classes are usually for all ages and shouldn't cost very much!. They will teach you all about the cameras they have and how to do lighting!. They should teach you how to use things in a studio, like the control room and the cameras and the lights!. They should teach you editting and alot of little tidbits!. Then, when you complete their classes, they usually allow you to check out all their fancy equipment, so long as you allow them to air anything you make with them!.

After I finished those classes, I started into my Highschool media program, which turned out to be a better place to borrow equipment from!. If you're lucky enough to have one, you can start doing that too when you're 14 or 15!.

If none of these options are available to you!. Convince your parents to help you invest in a camera!. It doesn't have to be a very expensive one, necessarily, but nicer is better!. Then, make videos for contests and festivals!. The idea is to create a portfolio that will help you get into film schools!.

To go along with your camera, if possible, get a tripod and an editing program!. If you can't afford the good stuff (Final Cut and Adobe Premiere), then Sony Vegas is a good alternative (I think it's only $40 or something)!. Photoshop is also helpful sometimes, but not necessary, and alternatives like Gimp may work!. Wikipedia can fill you in on all these programs if you aren't familiar with their capabilities and there are plenty of online tutorials to teach you how to use them if necessary!.

In the end though, it's all about making good films!. Keep your camera steady, do the best you can with makeshift lighting, and keep the camera up close if you don't have an external mic!.

Here are some links that may help you make professional looking videos:

http://www!.mediacollege!.com/video/aspect!.!.!.
http://www!.mediacollege!.com/video/camera!.!.!.
http://www!.mediacollege!.com/lighting/bac!.!.!.

http://www!.mediacollege!.com/ basically has everything!. The ones listed above are just some of the most important ones!.

Hope some of this helped!. Don't forget that watching movies and television is one of the best ways to get the feel for making good videos!. Watching the special features on DVDs can be especially helpfulf!. The DVD commentary things are great cause then you get to hear all about the problems they encountered making the film!.

By the way, a good script writing program (if money isn't an object) is Final Draft!. I use it all the time!. It formats everything for you and is really easy to use!. I mention this since everyone elses answers seem to be focused on story ideas!. Yes, the story is very important, but story writing is much easier to learn in the average school set up and from reading books and watching movies!. Just remember, early on, keep it simple!. If it gets too complex, it'll be very hard to do well without those lovely blank checks that Warner Brothers and the like hand out!.

Good luck and have fun with it!Www@Enter-QA@Com

As you are probably aware, you are too young to be employed in the film industry of this, or most Western industrialised counties!. However, most of the great modern film makers started as young teenage amateurs, using borrowed or second-hand cameras!.

There are clubs for amateur film makers!. Possibly there is one in your local area!. Check it out on the internet, or with your local library, or local authority!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

First, start off with a script!. Then when you're done with that, you need people!. Someone in charge of the cameras, the director, actors/actresses, and especially someone to be the boom operator!. Some cameras won't have the same voice as you want, get a person in charge of that!. Then, you're good to go!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes you could start out as a "go-fer"!. That's my plan!. It's important you start thinking up of ideas now!. Look for inspiration when you're young!. also, make sure your story not only has action and character development, but also a moral or theme!. By the way, you're never too young, and, unless you're going to need some editing skill, you don't need to go to camp!. God bless and good luck from a fellow potential film maker!. See you at Cannes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There is the New York Film Academy I'm pretty sure that will get you to what you want to do!. It is pretty expensive so you should start working at a young age and save up some $!. Anything is possible and I'm sure you might be able to be a part of filming in High School projects;)Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you want to do something then do it!. I say, study it, practice it, do it do it do it, get really good at it but because you love it not because you wanna be famous, that is LAME! people seeking approval makes their art WEAK!. Do your own thing, only YOU know how to do best!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, you can't start at that age, but you can join clubs at this age and prepare for when you're old enoughWww@Enter-QA@Com

well there are now camps or classes that can teach you the basics of filmmakingWww@Enter-QA@Com
