In The Green Mile did you feel sorry for that poor man and was he magic?!

Question: In The Green Mile did you feel sorry for that poor man and was he magic!?
Answers:
I would say that he was more a miracle worker than just 'magic'!. Tom Hanks' character says in the movie that John Coffey is "one of God's true miracles" - a gift!.

Yeah I did feel sorry for him of course!.!.!. But just remember this scene:

Tom Hanks feels so guilty about knowing that he will have to execute an innocent man, so he goes to John's cell and asks him what he should do!. He is willing to let John escape and make a run for it, he will do anything that John wants him to do!. But John just says:

"I want it to be over and done with!. I do!. I'm tired, boss!.
Tired of being on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain!. I'm tired of never having me a buddy to be with!.!.!.to tell me where we's going to, coming from, or why!. Mostly, I'm tired of people being ugly to each other!. I'm tired of all the pain
I feel and hear in the world!.!.!.every day!. There's too much of it!. It's like pieces of glass in my head!.!.!. all the time!. Can you understand!?"

So the way i see it is that because John Coffey can feel everyone's pain and suffering, it is like a curse on him!. He is an outsider, people don't understand him, and when he tries to use his gift to save the little girls, he gets put on death row for murder! People will always see what they want to see in him!. He is tired, and he is ready to go back to God!. I guess as someone mentioned above, there is a strong comparison between John Coffey and Jesus Christ, being sent by God, able to cure people of illness, pain and suffering, (and even give life!) but they are both persecuted by man, and then they die for the sins (evil) of the world!.

And when they ask John before he is executed "Do you have anything to say before sentence is carried out!?"
He only says: "I'm sorry for what I am!."Www@Enter-QA@Com

Definitely yes on both counts!. He was a man condemned for a crime he didn't commit!.!.!.

!.!.!. I see shades of Lennie (of mice and men) in the character of Coffey - there is an innocence there !.!.!. except, that in Coffey's case, he does have some sort of mystical power (in the book it says that the people he "healed" additionally gained a longer than average lifespan)Www@Enter-QA@Com

yes ,it was a heartbreaking movie I was very touched by it and he was SO huge !.!. and so intimidating yet he was as innocent and sensitive as a child in spite of all his power he believed it was better for him this way cause the pains of others where too much burden to his gentle soul !.!.can u imagine being able to feel every ones soul and all that's there pain !.!.envy,,hate ,, misery it's an awe full thing !Www@Enter-QA@Com

I did feel sorry for him!. He was only trying to help!. I got a wee bitty annoyed that they kept making him "spit out" a load of flies whenever he was doing his magic!. I thought that it looked quite tacky!. Overall, the film is a true classic!. One of those ones that you could watch over and over and still get a lump in your throat!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com
