Question: Do sequels kill the original movies!?
Okay no, Indiana Jones and Star wars are okay, and SOME of the batman were good (im talking about batman forever, that just killed it) are okay!. And Im talking about those sequels that you dont need!. Like in star wars, you needed it because there wasnt an ending until the 3rd one was made!. But if they made one now, it would just suck!.
But the last Indiana killed the original 3 (to me)
Home Alone had 3 horrible sequels
Shrek 2 and 3 were not good

l would agree with you on this!. Most sequels are made so they can rake in money again!. They pale in comparison to the first one!.Only a few manage to make a better sequel and got noticed by critics!.
The Scream movie is one example!.
Hannibal and The Exorcist on the other hand keeps adding to the original!. Both have prequels and sequels!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Honestly, if you're a true fan, you'll want more!. Some sequels may, but some are awesome and you love them!.

Scream 2
Scream 3
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End!.
Halloween, sequels 2, 4, 5, 7, 8!.
Saw sequels are great!.
and Hannibal, fantastic, may've been better than Silence of the Lambs!.
But lets say movies like Knocked Up, Borat, Superbad, comedy's like those don't need sequels, they'll ruin the original!. Horror movies need sequels though!.

Indiana Jones, is not supposed to really be a time line type of movie, its more like this happened to this man during this time!. I liked the latest Indiana Jones movie, I'm glad that they tied in his life for once!.
But I hated all the sequels to the Pirates Of the Caribbean!. I thought the first one was the best, but the rest was just boring!. I think sometimes the producers try to get as much money as they can even if the movie sucks!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

In the old days!.!.!.tee hee!.!.!.sequels did make you sorry that you ever watched the first one
But with Die Hard, IMHO, a new element appeared-a "great sequel" I have now seen sequels outdoing the original and at the very least keeping up
It depends how much story line is involved in the first movie!. If you have only seen the second one and it's a sequel-it would make me want to go out and get the original!.
If the first one is good and the sequel is bad-it only kills the sequel & the writers for me!.

Some sequels do "kill" the movie - but it's all about money and when you liked the first one the movie industry is betting you will see the second one - regardless of it's "worthiness!."
Some other sequels that I thought faired well included:
Pirates 1-3 - EXCELLENT
Jurrasic Park (the ending for the third one was pretty weak)
Austin Powers (1 and 2/ it seemed like they were "forcing the 3rd one down our throats)
Star Trek
The Fugitive/U!.S!. Marshalls - Both were fantastic!

While I'm of the opinion that sometimes it's best to eave well enough alone,Hollywood ups and does somethign almost incomprhensible!. They make a sequel that is almost better than the original!.
