Answers:
Samurai or jidaigeki!? If just jidaigeki, then there are a ton of goods films by Kenji Mizoguchi, and others!. (Mizoguchi) Sansho the Bailiff, The Life of Oharu, Ugetsu, The Story of the Last Crysanthemums, those are his most popular!. (Inagaki) Rickshaw Man, The Birth of Japan!. (Kurosawa) I know you said you didn't want to see anymore by him, at the moment, but I highly reccomend The Lower Depths because it's probably his best film, in terms of story!.
For Samurai films I'd reccomend The Samurai Trilogy, Samurai Rebellion, Kaidan (Kwaidan), Chushingura, Sword for Hire, Gate of Hell and any Teinosuke Kinugasa films, Humanity and Paper Balloons and if you can find the other two remaining films of Sadao Yamanaka, he was a big influence on Kurosawa, and Inagaki, and the samurai genre of filmmaking in Japan!.
I realize the shortness of this list, but it's a pretty good list!. If you haven't already checked out Yasujiro Ozu, and Mikio Naruse, they didn't make samurai, or jidaigeki, films, but they both made fantastic films, and are certainly worth it to check out!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
