Answers:
!.!.!.I really must admit, during several of the spectral chases scenes, in "Sleepy Hollow", I experienced a definite sense of de-ja-vu, with similar scenes in the classic Hammer films, like "Horror of Dracula" and the prologue of "Dracula A!.D!. 1972"; the sense of Bava-based 'gothic romance', as you describe, was most prominent in Tim Burton's horror production, as was an equally emphasized, exquisitely beautiful ugliness in the film, which irrevocably harkens back to classic Mario Bava productions, such as "Black Sunday" and "Black Sabbath"!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think it's more a Hammer film than Bava!. It's definitely more graphically violent than a Hammer film but it's dark enough to be Giallo!. Good question, though!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, you have 'good observation'!. Have a star!. What a refreshing change to see a question with a high interest factor!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
