Why is Stephen King the master of horror? The ends always suck!?!

Question: Why is Stephen King the master of horror!? The ends always suck!!?
Answers:
The MOVIES made from Stephen King books and stories are not at all "masterful" (neither are his original works, IMHO, but he IS good at creating suspense)!. His novels, novellas and short stories are better !.!.!. but the title "Master of Horror" is just a marketing thing!. I doubt anyone will be calling him that in a hundred years' time!.

He's no more a "master of horror" than that hack Thomas Kinkade(tm) is the "master of light" (though I see he now only claims to be the "painter of light" -- not its master!. Someone must have reminded him of Rembrandt!)!.

IMHO, the best King movie adaptations are Kubrick's The Shining and the TV version of The Stand!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

"The Master of Horror" is a thing the wags tagged him with years ago!. I think the reason that some people don't like his work is because they want their endings happy, tied up with a big bow and everyone skips off into the sunset!. But he writes characters you can care about then, when the narrative demands it,kill them off, just like in real life!. King himself is very humble about his sucsess and plays with the image every chance he gets(he did a credit card commercial a few years back that was hilarious) and that's one thing I like about him!.He doesn't take himself seriouslyWww@Enter-QA@Com

Read Salem's Lot-great ending!. The Shining-great ending!. The Tommyknockers-great ending!. Misery-super great ending! I admit that the ending of It and The Stand are kind of let downs but there are so many that are classics!. I read his short stories by myself at night only with difficulty!. Are you maybe talking about Stephen King movies!. Lots of them suck from the beginning to end!. But the original movie Carrie is great all the way to the end; so is The Shining!. So is Stand by Me!. So is The Mist!. I recommend these short stories: Graveyard Shift, The Mangler (not the movie!), Jersualem's Lot, One for the Road, The Raft!. These are spooky and disturbing tales!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Since you've posted this in "Movies", I'll address the movies made from King's books!. Those are adaptations of the books and very rarely follow the books very closely!. You can't blame him for the screenwriters taking liberties with his work!. also, King's books are all connected to each other one way or another!. The books are all threaded together and weave themselves into each other (esp!. the Dark Tower series)!. They tend to be open-ended because of the sprawling nature of the world he's created!. The movies can't achieve this and the open endings are tied up sloppily by the screenwriters!. There are exceptions of course, "The Green Mile", "The Shawshank Redemption", "1408", and "Stand By Me" were all really good movies, even with the open endings!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The ends suck because of the screenwriters and the producers!. Not because of Stephen King!. His books are great, including the endings!. But, for some reason, when one of them gets made into a movie here lately, somebody decides to ruin it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Steven King is one of the very best in what he does!. I have been a horror buff for many years and there isn't anyone that can write up to his standards!. He has a very imaginative mind!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
