Answers:
I'm a video editor currently working for a D-1 college football team (Wisconsin Badgers), and once produced TV ads for an agency in New York City (Now I'm a freelance writer because I'm wanting a change of pace)!.

Anyway!.!.!.

I went to film school (Ithaca College in upstate New York) and went on to get a masters in Digital Imaging and Design at NYU!.

Being a director is definitely a lot of fun, but in an artistic field such as film, there's really no "tried-and-true" method of finding work!. For practical experience (and if you're studying film at a university), I highly recommend interning with a production company at some point where you get a chance to work on sets as a production assistant, for instance!. Granted, being an intern is not glorious at all (moving equipment, working 12-16 hours a day, etc), it's a great way to establish connections and to see firsthand how the filmmaking process works!.

Work experience is all well and good, but THE MOST important thing to have is a portfolio of your own stuff!. If you want to be a director, pick up a camera NOW and start making mistakes!. Then start learning from those mistakes!. In this age of digital editing and youtube, the art of filmmaking has never been this accessible!. When I was your age I toiled with 16mm film and all that stuff!.

But anyway, back to your portfolio!. Start making projects now, and get any kind of honest feedback you can on your work!. No matter how much education you have, no matter how smart you are, and no matter how many questions you get right on your exams, the only way you're going to become a film director is if you SHOW, not tell, the world that you can make a movie that rocks!.

In regards to high paying positions in the film industry: First off, make sure you are PASSIONATE about what it is you do!. Of course, making money is important and there's nothing wrong with being rich or being a capitalist, despite what your college professors and other insulated academics will likely tell you!. But keep in mind that YOU MUST FIRST LOVE WHAT YOU DO!. If you opt for getting a job that pays well but sucks, you will burn out and hate getting up every morning!. Trust me, I've been there!. And I'm telling you to NOT go there!.

Find something that you love to do!. If you love it enough, you'll find a way to make it work!. Good luck!Www@Enter-QA@Com

First of all Congratulations that you want to become a Movie Director!.

Now here's the solution and a very viable one too:

Join FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) in Pune!.
Google FTII, Pune and find information on their website!.

There are other options too, however, they are either too expensive or third-grade!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
