How long would a movie be published?!

Question: How long would a movie be published!?
Say I'm a director and I want to make a movie, how long would it take including the editing!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
It depends on the type of movie and length!. Normally, a long script will result in at least 40 days of filming, and if it relies on special effects could add up to a year!. If it is more simple and needs little or no computer generated images (CGI), it could all be done in just a few months!.

Short = 4-5 months

Long = 9-14 months

And this will always vary!.

The problem with the poster above me is that PotC3 was being filmed even before the second hit theaters, and they continued filming right from the end of the second one!. So they were already filming for about 4 months before the release of the second one!. And they were able to use resources from the second which resulted in very little pre-production!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There are waaaay too many unknowns with your question to give you an approximate answer:

1!. Script - does it involve numerous locations!? Can it be filmed within a specific area or does it require multiple general locals (cities/countries)!? Are there complex action or fx sequences!? What is the length of the script (the difference between a 90 page script and a 120 page script can be a week's worth of shooting and even more time in post)!?
2!. Crew - Is your crew experienced!? Are they seasoned professionals who can move from shot to shot, scene to scene with efficeincy!? Can they anticipate issues before problems arise!?
3!. Editing - Are there any CG needs!? Complex computer fx!?
4!. Budget - what budgetary constraints are you working with!? Though you can do a film for little with the use of friends and contacts, ideally the budget can determine the amount of time you can dedicate to filming, or how much film you can afford, how much post work you can afford, and so on!.

I've seen an independent shoot a film in a week, edit in five, and have color correction and such done two weeks later!. Granted it wasn't the best film, but they did it in short order!. Honestly it all depends on your style, your crew, your budget, your script, and the quality you're going for!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on the movie!. Some movies take years and years, others can be very quick!.!.!. And the type of movie sometimes has nothing to do with it!. Napoleon Dynamite had a budget 5% of PotC3, but PotC3 came out in less than a year after its prequel, which is record time for such a high-tech, well-done film!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

like the users above me said, it depends on what type of film it is and how long it is!.

ive done a short film and am currently doing my second one!. my first film was 8 minutes long, so i did all the shooting in 4 days (2 hours for first 3 days and last day was 3 hours)

editing can take a bit of time!. and if ur making the music and sound effects urself, dat'll take more time!.

den u gotta get it on dvd and all!.

minimum 1 week for a short film!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
