Question: Why did people like Blade Runner!?
Okay, it was absolutely awful in my opinion, and I like art films, or films that make you think, which is what I was told this was!. It was just a movie that had no story line apart from what you learn in the first 5 minutes, the whole movie is Harrison Ford walking around, eating, drinking, and killing the occasional robot!. I was so pissed about how terrible this movie was because I was really looking forward to watching it for the first time!.
I love Sci-Fi, the plot sounded cool, I'm a big Harrison Ford and Ridley Scott fan, but this movie was just awful, yet it's considered a cult classic and one of the best movies of all time, I would like to know why!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think you missed the point of the movie!. It's all about Harrison Ford's character trying to decide what makes us human!. Are the replicants human, or more human than human!? And what does that say about actual people!?
The movie is popular because of its moody atmospherics, it's special effects (which were groundbreaking in their day and still look pretty darn impressive) and haunting musical score!.
The story is not typical sci-fi with lots of laser battles and starship fights!. It's a more existential story with a lot of ambition!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Critics raved about it when it came out in 1981 (!?)!. It was the first real cyberpunk movie that deals with futuristic computer and biotechnology issues!. The special effects in crowd sequences were amazing at that time!. Some people did not like Harrison Ford's narration, which was added later and was not part of Ridley Scott's original vision of the film!. The sexy androids in lycra suits are probably part of the movie's lasting appeal!. I admit that I saw it on a big screen in a theater and was blown away by it!. Back then, I hadn't heard of cloning eyeballs or computer screen profiles !. So I still have a fondness for it!. But the special effects in modern movies are even better and make Blade Runner seem old and out-dated!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
