Do you think its a good idea to put movies in the same cases cds come in?!

Question: Do you think its a good idea to put movies in the same cases cds come in!?
if you go out and buy the latest film!. what is inside!? one piece of paper that might not even be about the movie you bought!. its probably an add, sometimes that one piece of paper has the scene selections on the back!. i have older dvds that have this booklets with tons of information!.

i think it would be much more practical to put it in a CD case!. less plastic, and its not like there would have to start being big packets included!. the cover of the case would be differently shaped and chopped up i guess, but who cares!.!.

thats what i think, but i dont know it there is some special reason that they currently use the cases they do!.!.!.!.
what do you think!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I think standard DVD packages were designed to be the same height as a videocassette for the convenience of retailers, so they could use the same display shelves!.

I wouldn't mind a more compact format, but please, not the CD jewel case!. There are some nice cardboard/paper CD case designs that don't use any plastic!. They adapt easily to multiple-disc sets and can have a booklet bound into them, too!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

good point, they should at least make the cases slimmerWww@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think it is any different!. They are both plastic of some sort!. It should not hurt them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Nothing wrong with that!. That's how I have my movies!. Takes up a lot less space!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The cases are about the size in height that VHS movies used to be!. Lots of people have shelves set up to hold their movies!. I imagine when companies were designing cases to hold dvds, they were looking to produce them in something that the customer can feel somewhat comfortable with because it is rather similar to the product they already know!.

The additional paper insert is there typically, as you mentioned, to be an advertisment for an additional product from the company but may serve the double purpose of being a dvd index!. The benefit of dvds is they dont need a printed index since you can access that yourself by simply popping it into your player!. As dvd writing tech improved, it became cheaper to just write all the additional details onto the disc in the form of special features rather than produce thousands of booklets to be placed inside new dvd cases!.

Barring some sort of legislation by the government I would be very suprised to see dvd cases change to be the size of cd cases simply because it is not necessary!. Dvd cases are similar in proportion to movie posters allowing for little distortion of the imagery most people already associate with the film!. also, most media now features cases similar in size to that of dvds!. Computer software, Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo games, all come in very similar storage containers!. This allows for easy and universal storage of the media!. Compact discs are only in smaller cases because it allows for a smaller more easily transported package for vehicles!. Plus when CDs were first created, they had their case adapted from that of a tape!. The tape used little extra room which made it ideal for travel!. Cd ccompanies followed in the same way, making the cases as small and compact as possible!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
