Absolute best!?---The climactic sequence in the silent Laurel & Hardy short, "The Battle of the Century"--hundreds of pies were thrown, and the sequence built from one slip and a trip, to a street-wide melee!. The entire film is pretty much lost, but a few sequences (including the pie-fight) still remain!.
Runners-up!?--The Three Stooges short, "Three Sappy People", from 1939, has a climactic pie-fight at a posh birthday party--very well-done---"Keystone Hotel", a 1935 short comedy featuring silent clown Ben Turpin and members of the original Keystone Cops, ends up with not only a good pie fight, but a great chase sequence----finally, "The Great Race", the 1965 Blake Edwards salute to comic movies, has a no-holds-barred Technicolor pie fight in a bakery, featuring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Natalie Wood and a host of others, using more pies than anyone did in any pie-fight, all with a happy polka by Henry Mancini as background accompaniment!.

Try Bugsy Malone!. It's a gangster style musical, but all of the actors are kids!. It's kind of cheesy, but good if you like pie fights!. Instead of bullets, the guns shoot pies!.
