Is The Happening appropriate for a 12 year old?!

Question: Is The Happening appropriate for a 12 year old!?
My husband and I would really like to go see this movie but I don't know if it would be appropriate for my 12 year old son!. I tried to look it up on a website that does reviews of movies to see if they are appropriate for children, but this movie isn't on their site yet!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I suggest that you might let him take a friend and while you and your husband are watching that movie let him and his friend see another!. Just try to get one that is in the same area as your movie and get their drinks and food!. Let the friends mom and dad know his going to see a different movie but you'll make sure their OK before going into yours!. I've let my daughter do this and she loves it!. She feels very responsible and acts the same way!. I think he'll be fine if you feel comfortable to let him see a movie himself!. Just tell him and his friend their to stay in the lobby by the games until you get out if your movie is longer then theirs!. If you don't feel confortable then wait till his at a friends overnight then go see the movie!. I want ot see that movie too looks cool!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No it is not!. Here is the parental guide from IMDB - clearly a no-go for someone your age!.

Sex & Nudity
Violence & Gore
The following violent scenes were collected from the trailers and may contain spoilers!. They are subject to change upon the release of the movie!.

A man lays on the ground and allows a ride-on lawnmower to drive over him, cutting him to pieces!.

A group of construction workers leap off of a tall building to their deaths!. One is shown in graphic detail as the man hits the ground and other workers look at his broken body!.

A man jumps into a lion cage at a zoo and gets attacked by a lion!. We see the lion begin ripping the man's arm off in graphic detail!.

A police officer shoots an elderly woman in the head with a pistol and then shoots himself in the head with same gun!.

We see many dead bodies hanging from trees by nooses!.

A red jeep slams hard into a tree, totaling it!.

We see an older woman slam her head through a window!. She then looks up at the camera as her face is gushing blood!.

We see a man sitting in the middle of a road slitting his wrists with a razor blade!.

Oh hell no!. This is just from the trailer alone:

Do not, I repeat, do not take your 12 year old to this movie!. IMDB's parental guide suggests children under 17 should NOT be taken and subjected to this movie!. Get a baby sitter!. Be the good parent here!. Don't be selfish!.

Well, it would be selfish if you took a child to something like this!. Sorry, but it's my opinion!. "Gee, I want to see this movie, might give my kid nightmares, but it's all about me, so we'll take him anyway!." That is selfish!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
