Question: Why do people put so much emphasis on box office stats to determine if a movie is good or bad!?
Why even bother with having well-known actors or a storyline when the money is all that anyone cares about!? When a movie is sitting on the shelf at Walmart or Blockbuster, no one cares how much it made in the theaters, because it doesn't matter!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's not that the quality of the films are disputed by their total gross, it's that studios care if they make money!. If you notice at this particular time of year, the summer blockbuster season, the reports on how much films have taken in has grown exponentially!. The studios have shelled out hundreds of millions for the film itself and their aggressive marketing campaigns and would really like if you came out to see it!. However, around Oscar time the talk has died down about the amount made by each contender and has changed to the quality of the films!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Well hollywood companys need money and actors create interest which brings in the money!. Usually you have good actors to have a good movie but you can also have less known actors but it won't attract to much people which = not much money!. It kinda matters if it makes alot at the box office cause if it doesn't people won't know about it and won't know what it is or about so they wouldn't buy it!. Hope this helps!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com
Well the box office isn't everything, but money is what makes things possible, so it is an important statistic!. The money it brings in can determine whether it will have a sequel, whether certain people working on it will be funded in the future and to what extent, etc!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Because at the end of the day, the bottom line(as it always has been) is dollars If a work of art comes from it,so much the better but they want a$$es in the seats and nowadays a poor opening showing can sink a potentially good film!.
