Yes, it's based on real events,although for time reasons some characters are composites!. It's the story of the Bolyn sisters, Mary and Anne!. King Henry took Mary as his mistress,got her pregnant and threw her away!. He then became enamored of Anne,who was determined not to go the way of her sister and she made Henry marry her,divorcing his wife,The Queen(who he'd married after his brother's death,giving him rather shakey grounds to argue that his marriage was illegitimate as he'd married his brother's wife!. The Queen was subsequently banished from court,Henry broke with The Catholic Church(causing a rift that is still being felt to this day)and he finally married Anne Bolyn,crowning her Queen against the advice of his supporters!. When she proved unable to provide him with an heir,he insistuted divorce proceedings against her as well and had men tortured into confessing that they had been with her!. She was found guilty of treason and beheaded!. And while he was guilty of nothing,George was put to the axe as well!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

George did exist and he was executed, but he wasn't gay or anything like in the book!. I read somewhere that he was actually somewhat of a ladies' man!.
