This is the info as stated on the BBFC's website conserning Wanted:
WANTED is an action adventure film about a young man, Wesley, who is suddenly plucked from his mundane and unrewarding job by members of an ancient society of assassins and trained in their ways!. The victims of the society are apparently selected by fate!. The work was passed ‘18’ for strong bloody violence!.
The BBFC Guidelines at ‘15’ state that violence may be strong but may not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury!. Moreover, the Guidelines go on to say that easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised!. The film contains strong violence throughout!. There is an emphasis on people being shot in the head, often accompanied by brief but spectacular blood spurts and on two occasions there are slow motion, special effects sequences in which we see bullets emerging from victims’ heads!. As part of his training Wesley is subjected to some savage beatings!. On one occasion he is tied to a chair and on another a knuckleduster is used against him!. These beatings invariably result in bloody facial injuries; there is definitely a focus on the infliction of pain and injury in these scenes sufficient to tip the work into the adult category!. In another sequence a character extols the virtues of using knives in combat and the film includes a couple of fight scenes in which kitchen knives and other bladed weapons are used to cause injury!.
WANTED includes strong language throughout, which would have been permitted at ‘15’, and two moderate sex scenes that were sufficiently lacking in detail to be contained at ‘15’!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

There are no sex scenes in it, and not a lot of swearing either!.
I wouldn't call it violent as such, but there are some fairly gory & graphic scenes of torture!. Not many, but a few!. I wouldn't say it warrants an 18, but I think they've recently tightened up the classifications so that's why it's not a 15Www@Enter-QA@Com

I saw an interview with James McAvoy, who plays the lead opposite Angelina Jolie, and he said it's INCREDIBLY violent!. So much so, in fact, that he found it hard to watch!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
