Question: Did the Strangers make anybody lament the death of the horror movie!?
I just saw the movie "The Strangers", and I was appalled by it!. It wasn't because of the violence, but because of the stupidity of the main characters!. They had a shotgun!. A shotgun! Yet they still managed to be tied up and stabbed to death by a bunch of playground hooligans!.
Do you think this is a pattern in horror movies!? That the heroes/victims are total dimwits that can't think more logically than any person in a theatre audience!? Why can't there be a smart horror movie where the protagonist actually has brains, and some balls to back 'em up!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree, the image of a "witless" hero is becoming somewhat cliche!. They always seem to do something completely dumb at the most paramount moment and the slightly retarded, half blind, idiotic bad guy with a limp ends up prevailing!. How lame!.!.!.!.
If you want to see a movie that has NO stupid cliche characters (well!.!.!.!.!. almost none), then see the new version of The Mist by Stephen King!. I freaking loved how it sets itself apart from all other movies!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You know I've pretty much given up on the genre!. Everytime I went to theater in the last few years to see a horror movie all it was was sex, boobs, and gore!. Now I know you can expect some of this in these kind of movies but dare we expect more!?
The whole genre has been completely dumbed down IMO!. I can't even remember the last good one I've seen!. Then again haven't seen this type of movie at a theater in a long time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

They never have smart people in horror movies they think it adds effect when the people get murdered cause thats all that people want to see now is Violence and Sex!. On the movie Vacancy the people I guess have a little brains since they managed to live and outsmart the people and kill them all!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

From the Halloween, to Friday the 13, to the Saw and Hostel films!. Each of them would be much shorter if the proposed victim were properly arm AND was prepared to use it!.

I'm afraid the movie would be over much too quickly!. More like commercial!. Yeah, that's the ticket, a commercial for the NRA!. I can hear it now!. "NRA: Don't stay home without it"
The random acts of senseless violence seems to be the only things that keep many of these movies going, and I'm guessing they will continue to flourish!. There were 4 Saw movies, for crying out loud!. After seeing the first, I figured that sequels were just not necessary!.
