Listen to music, no!. To view films!.!.!. it depends on where you're viewing it!. They need permission to have it on their website!. Go down to the bottom of the screen and view the small links at the bottom like Terms of Service!. It will usually tell you if they're authorized to show it there!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
by listening or viewing music on video's even on yTube YOU ARE DOWNLOADING THE FILE! how else do you expect to be able to play it!.
however these files are not stored on your computer as permanent files just memory caches so quitting the program will generally erase them!.
this is a grey area but the person posting them on open sites is the one open to prosecution not the viewers!. likewise its the people POSTING the files for file sharing who generally get prosecuted!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

As already mentioned legally it's a grey area with watching films that are unofficially hosted!.
Illegal!? : quite possibly!. The film-makers and distributors would like it to be and efforts continue to move forward in finding ways to prosecute people!.

it is not illegal to listen to music i!.e!. youtube, but it is illegal to view movies unless you are paying a fee or have a membership that states that the profits benefit the actors and producers!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
