There is nothing in the rules that says that a deceased person cannot be nominated for his/her work!.

Yes they can and yes they have,most recently with Peter Finch's Best Actor win for,"Netwrork"(along with Faye Dunaway as Best Actress) his widow accepted the award for him!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
