Question: Heath Ledger vs Jack Nicholson-Who makes the better Joker!?
I personally say Heath Ledger!. His performance in The Dark Knight was spell-bounding and frightening!. This was the first time a villain actually SCARED me in a movie!. Jack Nicholson just wasn't scary!. He wasn't pure evil enough for the Joker!. Heath was positively TERRIFYING as the Joker!. He sent chills up my spine!.
It's a horrible shame that if they make another Batman movie he won't be the Joker because he died shortly after they made the movie as I'm sure you all know!.
This is now my favorite Batman movie and Heath Ledger's Joker is my favorite movie villain of all time!. No one can top him!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

while both played 'the Joker', I think its a matter of Apples and Oranges!.
As much as they did with their roles They were limited/or not by their Directors, plus Batman (1989) had a far different tone compared to Dark Knight (2008)!. As good as Burton did with his films, sadly he set a base line that was bound to end up w/ Bat-Nipples in Batman &Robin (1997!?), while it would take an act of Horror worthy of the Joker himself for the Nolan/Bale Franchise to become half as bad!.
that said, all things considered, I have to give the edge to the Ledger because quite honestly, Not knowing who his Joker was Before the Paint, adds a certain degree of "what makes him Tick!?, that Nicholson couldn't play, because his Joker was depicted as both the Street Thug who killed the Parents Wayne, and the aspiring Mobster who was betrayed and set up for diddling the boss's Girl!. thus making him the Joker, and while Ledger's Joker offered up 2 postulates about what mad him who he is, they were contradictory tales, leaving us in teh dark abut his real originsWww@Enter-QA@Com

And not just because he's fresh in my mind either!. or because he's dead!.
I've seen Jack Nicholson, when i've seen his Joker, thats when he became my favorite actor! I've seen EVERY one of his movies after Batman!.
But, after seeing the Dark Knight, i'm truely sad that Heath can't return for another =/

I loved Jack Nicholson as The Joker! It was classic!.
Still, I think Heath Ledger played him brilliantly as well!. The thing is, the character was put out to the audience differently because of the tone of the movie!. Ledger's movie is darker than Nicholson's, so I don't think you can really compare them!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I think they were both perfect for their respective films!. While still somewhat dark, Burton's Batman was still somewhat entrenced in the 60's version so I think Nicholson's hammy portrayal was spot on!. On the other hand, I just saw the new one last night and it was so good I hate to call it a comic book movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I would have to agree with you, BUT I also think part of that came from Jack Nicholson's performance as the joker!. Let's not undermine the brilliance that is Jack as well!.!.!. Part of the reason Heath could play the joker so well was by studying previous performances of the joker and expanding on them!.!.!. a big influence was Jack Nicholson, which is evident in the file!. The way he moves and certain ways he says things reminds me of Jack!. also, you have to remember that had Jack Nicholson played the character years ago as dark as Heath Ledger played it now, audiences would not have like it as much!. Society and audiences play a big role in the way an actor perceives a character!.
So yes, Heath is amazing, but Jack is no less brilliant!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
