Following the confrontation against Harvey/ Two-Face, Batman sacrifices his reputation in order to save that of the 'White Knight' Harvey Dent!. He claims that he is simply a masked figure who becomes whatever Gotham needs him to be, but should the public become aware of Harvey's actions then chaos would resume and morale would be lost - Batman takes the fall to maintain the moral of the city and ensure the Joker's aim failed to succeed, much in the same way Dent previously took responsibility for Wayne!. After hoping for a retirement, Batman breaks his one rule - not to kill - and at the same time loses both a valuable friend and the woman he loved!. He is left on the run from the police, with only Gordan and his son aware of his innocence!.

The Joker, on the other hand, is defeated by Batman and strung upside down, eventually being arrested by the SWAT/ Police!. His fate is unknown, and I suppose it is up to the individual to determine what they think happens to him afterwards!. He is not shown again, but I suppose it's possible his fate could be revealed in a third film, should it ever be made; say, for example, a mere mention of how "the Joker has escaped again!." Unfortunately, Heath passing away means he cannot give another superb performance, and so I don't expect to see the character appear again - at least, not in Nolan's series!.

Hope that helps answer your question!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Batman knocks Two-Face off the building where the villain had taken Gordon's family!. He is immobile on the ground, good eye closed, and is presumably dead!. Gordon and Batman decide to pin Two-Face's crimes on Batman in order to preserve Dent's image as the "White Knight," giving the citizens of Gotham hope!. A memorial service is held for Dent, where Gordon can be seen making a speech!.

Dent had taken the fall for Batman!. Now Batman takes the fall for Dent!. That decision holds the film's greatest irony!. Batman broke his own code and killed Dent, the White Knight of Gotham, which was the only way to save Gotham from being lost forever!. Bruce Wayne's loss is great!. Not only does he lose Rachel, he loses his chance to let Dent to take over as the new hope of Gotham!. With Dent's crimes pinned on him, he can't even continue in that role himself!.

As for the joker, he was taken in by the police!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Batman kills two face by knocking him off the building!. Gordon and Batman decide that they should make batman take the blame for two face's crimes so that Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face) will still be thought of as Gotham's "White Knight"!.
The Joker gets caught hanging off the building and is taken to jail!. Weak ending, I thought, but WICKED movie!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Two-Face is not dead !.!.!.!.!. neither is the Joker (Ledger is!.!.!.!.!. R!.I!.P) !.!.!.!.!.!. The coin landed on the unscarred side it means that he is alive and he will return to avenge Rachel Dawes murder and what Batman had did to him !.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
