Answers:
many of my favourite books have been butchered namely eragon, the dark is rising etc!. however i have learnt that books and films are totally different and what may work on paper won't work on screen!. i have learnt to enjoy both as different arts!. now i just appreciate that the previous mentioned movies are just bad and that including more of the books plot could have improved itWww@Enter-QA@Com

I love seeing them make it the stories their own!. Usually they say it's "based" on the book!. I mean, if the Harry Potter films were identical to the book, sure, they would be cool, I guess, but what's the point of just seeing exactly all that I could read when I can get something different!. If someone can watch a film, maybe they should find the book if they don't like the way the filmmaker made it!.

By the way, you say the director cuts out major points!. The director is the one that takes the film project and visualizes it into a certain vision!. It's the writer or screenplay [and with the book's original author] who transfers the storyline from book to script!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on the liberties taken!. There are some films which I think work better as stories than the books they were based on!.

also, don't just blame the director!. Plenty of people, including the screenwriter and a whole bunch of executives, can be responsible for those changes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

yeah, they realy take liberties, prime example: jurassic park, in the film thers 3 velociraptor and one t-rex!. in the book theres 2 t-rex and something like 47 raptorWww@Enter-QA@Com

i hate it when people read the book and then watch the movie expecting it to be the same!.!.!.like exactly the same and then hctib about it!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.but i wouldnt really know anything about your question!.!.!.sorryWww@Enter-QA@Com

It takes more than 90 minutes to read most books and some things don't come accross right on film anyway, so I think the book and the film should be enjoyed seperately!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Sure it's annoying, but the mediums of film and fiction are totally different!. They're not intended to be the same!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i hate that it is like impossible to find a movie that is really similar to the bookWww@Enter-QA@Com

Yep the movie version of The Shining is nothing like the book!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
