Personally I prefer wide-screen!. Wide-screen gives you the full-length cinematic view!. Wide-screen works best with movies that go for epic or really panoramic wide-angle shots like Lawrence of Arabia, Kingdom of Heaven, or Akira Kurosawa's classics Kagemusha and Ran!.
Full-screen is good but the problem is that it cuts off the wide left and right sides of any given shot and zooms in!. So basically, with full screen you get a really up and close view but at the expense of the beauty of panoramic shots!. So bottom line, if its a movie that goes for the cinematic shots go wide-screen ,if its your typical movie that just goes for mindless entertainment, go fullscreen!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

who ever mentioned that the widescreen makes them feel special is an idiot!. First off, widescreen is the way the director shot the movie in, it actually shows everything in the movie!. Fullscreen chops the sides off and does this process called Pan & Scan where it only focuses on the actors in the movie, and basically cutting off the details on the sides!. I personally like widescreen much better because it shows the whole picture, and sometimes the fullscreen doesn't show some important detail in the film!. Most people hate widescreen because of the black bars, well why don't they just buy a widescreen tv and get over it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Widescreen movie retain the originally recorded view of the movie, If you have a widescreen tv you will see more of the movie on the sides of the screen that is why there are black bars on the top and bottom of a standard tv to maintain the aspect ratio the height vs the length of the viewing!. On a standard version of a film the side are cut off so that the aspect ratio will match that of a non-widescreen television allowing it to fill the screen!. So yes there is a difference, watching a widescreen version of a movie will yield a greater view of the film and allow you to see more of the action!.

Widescreen shows more on the sides and it was what the movie was originally recorded in so I feel it gives you more of the feel that the film maker intended!. But that's just me!. Some people find one or the other easier to watch!. If widescreen is to destracting for someone then they'll miss out on the movie!. So, hey!.!.!. to each their own!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Full screen is made to "fit your tv" so you miss a lot of things that should be in the shot!.
With wide screen, that is how they film it so you never miss anything that could be cut off!.

It's personal taste!.!.!.I still prefer full screen!. I find wide screen distracting because my eyes look at the blank parts of the screen!. I don't feel like it's "like the movies" because I don't see this distracting blank parts in the movie theatre!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
heres a good answer!.!.!.

Say you had a famous painting by Van Gough and you wanted to put it in a frame but the picture was too big for the frame!. Would you cut off the sides of the picture so it would fit!? No!. That's the same concept of full screen!. =)Www@Enter-QA@Com
They do that so it will resemble the way a theater looks but I personally HATE it!. It seems like you can't see as much of the movie with it as you can with full screen!. Whoever thought of it had a bad idea!Www@Enter-QA@Com
YES there is a difference, the wide screen is wider so you can see more!. The full screen is taller, but I don't really like full screen!. I prefer wide!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
it gives you more of the picture!. Full screen just cuts out the sides of the picture and then you don't always get the point of what the picture is trying to tell youWww@Enter-QA@Com
Full screen cuts of the edges of the picture!. Widescreen replicates how the movie looked in the theater!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
It contains all the width of a cinema screen!. If you're watching a DVD the widescreen version shows things the regualr TV version cannot!. There are things on either side on HD TV shows as well!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
It might be bigger but it to me it always feels like there's 2 chunks of the movie missing, at the top and at the bottom lol!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
When you get full screen it takes advantage of the whole screen but it scrunches up the picture to fit it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Full screen cuts parts in the sides, anyway if you get widescreen you feel like you're in the movies!Www@Enter-QA@Com
Think its because it not as stretched out, and pixels are clearer, rather than fullscreen which their stretched a tad!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
With wide screen yet get the movie the director intended you to see!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
because you can see the screen wider
