Not really!. The Dark Knight I do think became overrated not due to the movie itself, but due to Heath Ledger!.
I think if you have been a Batman fan due to the comics, I think the movie did the comics and a lot of the themes in them justice!.
The movie was really good; I just think a lot of people probably didn't like it because the cast had a lot of equal screen time!. Instead of just focusing and revolving the movie around Batman and the Joker, they gave Batman, Joker, Harvey Dent and the police officer a lot of the same screen time!. A lot of the more minor characters such as Rachel, Alfred, Lucius seemed to be on equal standing too!. I don't think most audiences are used to that treatment in a movie, especially a "mainstream/blockbuster" movie, and so were thrown off and therefore distracted by that!.
I think the movie was great!. It introduces everything and everybody in good time, and explains this and that, instead of being like most movies and saying this is how it is with really no backgroud!.

Yes, it was so overrated in my opinion!. I wouldnt say it was "a piece of crap", I think it was a good movie, but NOT a great movie!.
I almost died of a heart attack a few days ago discussing it with a friend, who REALLY uttered the words "it's one of the best movies I've watched in years!." LOL
I really dont get why, I'll have to watch it again, whether in the movies or in DVD when it comes out, I'm intrigued now, I wanna know what has been so shocking about it for people!.
Truth is, the thing is devastating the box office, it's officially now the 3rd biggest movie of all time regarding to box office, following Titanic and Star Wars, but I cant find that point of greatness on it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
I really enjoyed the movie actually but I understand why you would feel that way!. There have been several times when I've gone to see a movie that was over-hyped and didn't enjoy it at all!. Instead of just not liking the movie I was extremely disappointed because the film was hyped up so much!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
