I see it mentioned a lot in the Imdb trivia section!. I know it's like a famous scream that is used a lot, but that's about it!. Where did it originate!? Why do they use it over and over!? What is so special about it and what is the significance of it!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

It was a stock sound effect scream used over and over in many old movies!.
When you watch old movies they seem to use a lot of the same sound effects for a wolf or coyote howl or a hooting owl, or lightning cracking against the sky!.
The scream was another example!.
It seems to have been first used in a moive called 'Distant Drums" and is thought to have been first recorded by an actor named Sheb Wooley!. It was disovered recently on a sound reel labeled 'man being eaten by an alligator'Www@Enter-QA@Com

it originated from the 1951 movie Distant Drums, it is rumored that the actor/singer Sheb Wooley was the one who recorded it originally, but it was revived by the Star Wars sound designer Ben Burtt, who found the original recording titled "man being eaten by alligator"!. it can be found in movies, tv shows and videogames!.

i heard that it's from an old movie with a guy who gets eaten by an alligator and screams that scream!. I guess the use it over and over because it's a realistic scream that fits their situation and maybe the actors don't like screaming!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
They use it over and over because it IS so well known!.!.!.!. the same way a slide whistle sound is used for certain things!.!.!. like a clown dropping his pants or a hat flying off!.!.!.!. it just so happens THAT scream is copyrighted and stuff!.!.!.!. same way Happy Birthday is!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
