Why are movie theatres so strict nowadays?!

Question: Why are movie theatres so strict nowadays!?
I mean, when I was 12, I went to go watch Bram Stoker's Dracula (rated R) with my other 12 year old friend!. There were no adults with us!. I saw it twice that week!

But I went to the show the other day, and it says they I!.D!. now for R-rated movies!!! What has the world come to!?

I took my 14 year old cousin to see Step Brothers, and it was disgusting! lol!.!.!.I would rather have let her see Pineapple Express for pete's sake, but it was rated 18A, because let's face it, drugs and violence are on TV everyday for free (news) but balls and sex and revenge aren't in our faces every day!Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm an old codger now!. I do sympathize with you!. This whole rating system is completely idiotic!. When I was a kid there was no such thing!. I think what happened was a few goofy parents who all forgot what it was like to be kids started to band together and put pressure on the idiot politicians that they elected to help protect their kids from something that their spiritual leaders who also forgot what what it was like to be kids that they do not need to protected from and started a system that is completely subjective and protects no one from anything!. You and your friends are victims of very misguided thinking on the part of a lot of adults who don't understand beans about society and culture!. The last laugh I am sorry to say will be on them!. One day our Government will start deciding what is proper for them to see and read!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's because what goes into an R rated movie these days is much heavier than it used to be!. You get more sex and more violence than ever before so it's more important than ever before to keep kids out, because if kids go in and get messed up it draws more bad publicity to the movie industry!.

Today Bram Stoker's Dracula would be a PG-13, if not a PG, and what you get in a PG-13 today would have been 18A back in the day!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's simple they don't want to get sued by parents if the theater let's them go see an R rated film!. In my opinion they are a little too strict!. I think it's pointless that even if a parent lets a 16 year old kid to see an R movie they still have to accompany them inside the theater!. I mean come on!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It depends upon how well the theater's employees are doing their job!. Some are conscientious, some aren't!. You probably just got lucky when you were 12!. If that was more than a few months ago, even the same theater could have a completely different staff by now!.

Because they get fined big time if they get caught!. Potentially closed down, even!.

It's against the law, and the government is cracking down, so theaters just won't risk it!.

Hey, whaddya know-- the system works!Www@Enter-QA@Com

A 12 year old has no business seeing an R rated movie, and a 14 year old has no more business seeing an 18A!. Geez! It's good for movie theatres to be strict!. They need to be stricter! Www@Enter-QA@Com
