What are some "hidden gem" movies?!

Question: What are some "hidden gem" movies!?
What I mean is!.!.!.
What are some really good movies that aren't really mainstream that you feel people are missing out on!? And what about them makes them worth watching!?

One movie that comes to mind for me is this film called "Tape," starring Ethan Hawke!. The entire movie is basically two old best friends reuniting and hanging out in a hotel room talking about the past!. But it gets very interesting when Uma Thurman gets involved!.

Thanks in advance!. :)Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you find yourself making the jump to movies made outside the USA, and movies that are older than you are, you'll find plenty of great ones!.

Action, shoot-em-up: The Killer (1988): watch the relationship between the cop and the killer change over the course of the movie!. Amazing!

Fantasy, complete escape: The King of Hearts (1965), with Alan Bates and Genevieve Bujold!. Or La Belle et la Bete (1946), which is Cocteau's answer to France's desire to escape from the ravages of WWII!.

Comedy: Tampopo (1985); A Taxing Woman

Slice of Life growing up in a dysfunctional household: My Life as a Dog (1985, Swedish)

The restless longing for romance that's adulterously illicit: Brief Encounter (1945); In the Mood for Love (2000)!.

An epic story of lifelong friendship through political upheaval in China: Farewell, My Concubine!.

Femme Fatale: The Blue Angel (1930) It put Marlene Dietrich on the map!.

Film Noir:

The BEST movie I've seen that few Americans under 60 have seen: Rififi (1955, full title: Du rififi chez les hommes, 99% French (subtitled), 1% Italian)!. It is film noir, and still excellent all these years later!. Four small-time criminals plan the perfect heist, led by Tony le Staphanois, the thief who rats out no one, takes the rap, and does what he must to keep a woman in line!. If ever there were a personification of "honor among thieves," it is he!. His approach to life is in his loyalty!.

The film is a great lesson in men working as a team, and once you accept that all the technology is vintage first-generation, you can enjoy their marvelous ingenuity!.

The heist scene is legendary: 32 minutes without music, without dialogue!. Director Jules Dassin, who himself is acting in the scene as the safecracker, gets everything he needs from his actors, with just their nod or hand gestures!. Pure action, superbly done: the tension, the anticipation as they near their prize, is captivating!.

And it's film noir, so the deadly sins of greed, lust and anger soon loom large!.

The movie was quickly banned in Mexico because so many thieves took lessons from the movie and went out and tried out their new skills!

I'm giving nothing away by suggesting that you pay attention at the end of the movie to how the director uses, or subtly doesn't use, nearby sounds!. Enjoy!

Cutter's Way---a murder-mystery movie with an amazing performance by John Heard (channeling Tom Waits)!. Jeff Bridges is also in it!.

The Reflecting Skin--older Viggo Mortensen film about a boy with an active imagination!. To say more would spoil it!. Directed by Mark Peploe, who also did!.!.!.

Afraid of the Dark--A little boy, obsessed with blindness and violence, slowly gets trapped in his own delusions!.

All interesting stories with great performances!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
