Where did C3PO get his gold plating after episode 2 and before episode 3?!
Question: Where did C3PO get his gold plating after episode 2 and before episode 3!?
Its not mentioned in the movies but is it mentioned in any of the Star Wars novels or somewhere else!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

It was indeed added when Padme and Anakin basically swapped droids after their marriage!. (They made gifts to each other of their respective droids!.)
While functioning as Padme's personal servant droid, she had his covering upgraded!. (It's still unclear if the coverings themselves were upgraded on Naboo or Coruscant!.)
Alas, Jman has it just a tad bit inaccurate since Anakin was surprised by the gold plating when he saw Threepio with it on Coruscant!. So he didn't install it!. Someone else had to have!.!.!.

The answer by "medleystudios72" provides the perfect chance for me to show the subtle tainting that is occurring to Star Wars data found at the "wiki" sites!. The basic answer is right but the detail provided at the "wiki" site is not completely accurate!.
It is shown in chapter 21 of the Clone Wars micro-series that ran on The Cartoon Network in 2004!. I believe it was done on Coruscant but I done much digging on that so don't quote me on it!. At the time R2 & C3po were with Padme at the time!. In chapter 21 Anakin is walking through the streets of Coruscant and senses someone following him!. He uses a burst of the Force to run ahead and then hides in a alley until the person following him goes by then grabs them and pulls them into the alley and has the person against the wall with a lightsaber to the persons neck in a manner of seconds!. He turns the blade off immediately as the person who was following him was Padme!. The have a kiss and talk and then hear 3po coming down the street calling Padme's name!. Anakin grabs him also and pulls him into the alley!. It is then that he sees 3po's new plating!. As 3po says, "In the service of a Senator one must be presentable"!. Anakin then gets a comm call from Obi-Wan telling him to get to the Jedi Temple ASAP!. When he gets to the Temple Obi-Wan chides him for being late and Anakin says something about Obi-Wan not being as wise as Qui-Gon !.!.!. Anakin apologizes for saying that and Obi-Wan says it's alright, that he misses him two!. He then tells him that he has proven all the things that Qui-Gon had saw in him and that it was time that their Master/Student relationship ends and they become "brothers"!. The door opens to the council room and it is dark inside!. Anakin goes into the room and Obi-Wan follows him and the door closes!. Out of the darkness 12 lightsabers are ignited and they are standing in a circle around Anakin!. Yoda beckons him forward to kneel in front of him!. Yoda then, as the Queen of England does when she Knights someone, moved his lightsaber back and forth from one shoulder to the next and says: "Anakin Skywalker, by the right of the council, by the will of the Force, dub thee I do, Jedi !.!.!. Knight of the Republic!." As he says the last words of that he flicks his lightsaber and cuts off Anakin's Padawan braid!. The next thing we see is 3po walk into Padme's room with the braid in his hands and presented it to Padme as a gift from Anakin!. She is overjoyed and puts it in her keep sake box along with the little figure that Anakin made her in ep I!. The next thing we see is R2 roll up to Anakin as he is preparing to leave in his starfighter!. R2 projects a holo in which Padme points to R2 and then motions her hands at Anakin!. It was her way of saying that she was giving R2 to him as a gift!.
