Is "the Academy" (AMAPAS) biased against entertaining movies?!

Question: Is "the Academy" (AMAPAS) biased against entertaining movies!?
As a response to someone on here I've made a list of entertaining movies of the past several years, most of which were not honored by the Academy!. I think they're reflexively biased against entertaining movies!.

All the Harry Potter's were awesome!.
The first two Lord of the Rings deserved awards more than the first one!.

2000
Crouching Tiger was utterly stupid!.
Gladiator rocked!.

2001
A Beautiful Mind was Awesome, but Monsters' Inc was better!. Actually several of Pixar's movies were awesome!. Blackhawk down was good too!. Of course all of these can't win at the same time but they don't even nominate them!. Moulin Rouge sucked!.

2002
Spiderman should have won for its year!.
Minority report was awesome!.

For 2003 Pirate of the Caribbean was one of the three best movies that year!. Not even nominated!.

Last Samurai was good!.

For 2004:
Incredibles was one of the best movies ever made!. Cartoons are never taken seriously by the Academy!.

Mean girls was also a fantastic movie!. Not taken seriously, of course!.

2005 Was easy because the academy once again tried to help us philistines understand true art because we’re too dumb to pay go to the right movies:

Batman Begins was good, but not great!.
Sin city was really good!.
Oh My Gosh, Cinderella man was incredible!.
Serenity was awesome!.

2006
Letters from Iwo Jima was so completely awesome!. Here’s where the academy and I agree!.
Devil Wears Prada was awesome!.
Pan’s Labyrith

2007:
Ratatouille
Enchanted

Your opinion sides with the majority of the public, from what I have witnessed!. I remember the masses who screamed blasphemy when Juno didn't win Best Picture last year, and the less entertaining and more dark and depressing No Country for Old Men won!. This is why The Academy is responsible for awarding the best films and not the public!. The Oscars aren't an American Idol of movies where the public should simply call in who they think should win!. It's done by the people who actually are within the movie business and therefore have a bit more knowledge than the casual movie viewer!.

That being said, you have compiled a good list of entertaining films since the year 2000!. But I'm confused as to what you're trying to get at!. You claim that The Academy are biased against entertaining films, but you listed a number of entertaining films that were acknowledged in the Oscars: Ratatouille, Enchanted, Pan's Labyrinth, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Incredibles, Pirates of the Carribbean, A Beautiful Mind, Monster's Inc, and Gladiator!.!.!. these were ALL acknowledged by The Academy for their excellence!. Now maybe you're trying to say that they weren't nominated for Best Picture!?

If that's the case!.!.!. we all know A Beautiful Mind and Gladiator won their year's Best Picture!. As for Ratatouille and The Incredibles!.!.!. they both won the Best Animated Feature category!.!.!. which is the animation's equivalent for Best Picture!. Maybe you felt that they should've been in the running for Best Picture, but the truth is that'll never happen again!. Beauty and the Best is and will be the only animated film to ever be nominated for Best Picture!. In 2001, The Academy introduced the new Best Animated Feature category and that simply shuts the door on all animations to compete against live action films!.

When you said, "For 2003 Pirate of the Caribbean was one of the three best movies that year!. Not even nominated!." I agree that Pirates was a highly entertaining and very well-made film!. But it was nominated for 5 Oscars, including an Lead Actor nod for Johnny Depp!. So The Academy definitely gave this mainstream, popcorn flick its due at the Oscars!.

For the most part, you named plenty of entertaining and actually Oscar-worthy films (aside from Mean Girls and Spider-Man)!. But if Best Picture Oscars were given to the "most entertaining film" of the year, then we would see films like Transformers, Night at the Museum, and Wedding Crashers winning the most prestigious award!. I don't know about you, but that's simply unacceptible!. I cannot stress enough my satisfaction in the past few years for The Academy with their Best Picture selections: No Country for Old Men, The Departed, Crash, and Million Dollar Baby!. They might not be the most entertaining, but they're definitely classic Oscar winners!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I agree!. They only nominate art house films or movies that only a handful of people has seen!.
Comedies or comedic actors are never, or hardly ever, taken seriously!.
If it has subtitles it is Oscar worthy!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
