I Am Legend is an adaptation of the 1954 Sci-Fi novel by Richard Matheson!. There are also two other movie adaptations one called The Last Man on Earth made in 1964 and The Omega Man made in 1971!. The Will Smith I Am egend movie actually has two different endings, none of which are actually in the novel, in one Will Smith sacrifices himself to save humanity and in the other he survives by finally understanding the creatures pain!.
