R rated movies and minors?!
Question: R rated movies and minors!?
ratings to me are just like a suggestion, it tells you what is in it just doesn't mean that people under or over age cannot watch it!.
i had a friend who's parents would not let her watch pg 13 movies until she was 13, even days away from her 13th birthday she couldn't!.
there is not magical event happening to the child that enables them to watch certain things, it is the state of mind the child is in!. if the child is a fearful kid then don't watch scary movies, if the kid cannot tell the difference between fact and fiction/real world made up world then the kid shouldn't be watching tv anyway
my parents use to restrict my sister *first born* from watching a lot of things but as time went on and they had 2 more kids *brother and me* they relized that there can be worse things and tried it out!. i watched bevies and butthead when i was 5 years old and we were all fine so they just let us watch what we want, except porn but we didn't have those channels :P
but my question is, why do parents use those ratings to the extreme!? it should be what the kid can handle and your moral beliefs not someone elses suggestion!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Because parents are always trying to control their kids to some extent!. No matter how much they don't want to admit it, it's true!.
They're feeding, dressing, and raising these kids with their own money!. Their kids were literally a part of them!. So they have a tendency to think that these kids are simply their objects, with a brain installed on top of it!.
They want to monitor every behavioral abnormality and influence in their kids lives, so movie ratings are naturally a source of "outside influence"!. If they still wish to remain unchallenged in their teachings and influences, they have to have some sort of a limitation on these "influences"Www@Enter-QA@Com
