In terms of Kubrick's films it was the beginning of the end of his career, artistically, every film before this was great, but this film, and the two that followed it, were not really that good!. People like them because it's Kubrick, and they're interesting stories, but I don't think they really hold any significance in his career!.
Comparing this to other films, I would give it around a five or six, but in terms of Kubrick films it's a four or worse!. Go see Barry Lyndon, Lolita, Dr!. Strangelove, Paths of Glory, Spartacus, Clockwork Orange, and 2001 first!. Then this, then his earlier works (Fear and Desire, The Killer's Kiss, The Killing), then Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut!. Or that's what I would do, if I hadn't already seen all of them!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

you can't just have a 1-10 scale by itself, you have to have a reference point, something to compare it with!. for example, which film would correspond to 10 and which to 1!? Www@Enter-QA@Com
