Not really, no!.
Personally, I think the story is great, so getting to see it in movie form was awesome!. But the book is rather inaccurate in its portrayal of geisha, and the movie just makes it worse by completely disregarding the rules of hairstyles and dress that all geisha and maiko are supposed to follow!. There are a few scenes where the kimono are closed right over left instead of the proper left over right (though that might have something to do with movie editing rather than being an actual mistake in the costuming), and Sayuri's hair and makeup are atrocious!. No real geisha or maiko I know of would be caught dead looking like that except maybe as part of a costume for Setsubun or something!. Actually, the only character who looks all that accurate when she's in her maiko outfit is Pumpkin!. And of course, both the book and movie do nothing to help with the image of geisha as prostitutes, which they are not!.
So yeah, as much as I like the story, those things really ruined the movie for me!.

It was alright!. I was let down because I thought it was silly for the main character to go through all that just to get to the man she loves!. It just didn't make any sense!. She should have just told him how she felt!. It wasn't that deep or interesting!. I was very disappointed!. The only sad part is when she and her sister parted!. The plot was too boring!. I'm not the target audience/gender for Memoirs of a Geisha, but members of my family have read the book and seen the movie, and they love both of them!Www@Enter-QA@Com
no i dont!. she goes on telling the entire time that geishas are only entertainer and she ends up sleeping with the guy so it basically stated the exact opposite!. its like prostitution!.!.!. didnt like it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
