Question: Is it legal for someone to offer the service of converting all your old videos onto dvdr!.!.!.!.i'm sure lots of!?



people must have extensive collections which they would find too expensive to buy again, even supposing they had been reissued in dvd format!.


i wonder where you stand with copyright laws a] as a person who owns the videos and wants to convert them to a modern format!.!.!.and b] where a person who is in a position to offer this service stands in the laws eyes!.

Agree with above, if you already own it, it can't be illegal to change it's format!. However, I disagree that not many people would want the service!. I have stacks of videos sitting idle and would love them converted to DVD!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No, i dont think it is illegal to make a copy of an existing VHS copy onto a DVD!. It's just converting it into another format!.
I think it would just be like the people who put all their cd's onto their Ipod!.
The only thing is that i doubt their would be much demand for this type of service because the quality of VHS tapes is not great and the older they are the worse the quality so there wouldnt be much point!.

I believe it's only illegal if:

(A) The item being copied does not belong to the person

(B) There is a charge

(C) The trademark on the item still exists (most cases it does)

(D) You get caught- ie, you advertise and do a lot of business to get noticedWww@Enter-QA@Com
