I'm fan of his films!. They do pretty well over here, but more so on DVD than on the cinema!.
I think his films do appeal to the British sense of humour, but that sense of humour has been diluted by mainstream American cinema/TV and so some people just don't get it!.

I can imagine his movies doing pretty well in the UK!.!.!. His humor seems to lean towards a sort of understated British humor!.
also, looking into some of imdb!.com's stats it seems his movies usually have a larger opening overseas!.
