No it is not real!.
They promoted the film that way to get more people interested in seeing it!. Most of the time when people make horror movies and say 'its based on a true story' it gets more peoples attention and gets them to want to see it!.
So no!.!.!.its just like with the movie Cannibal Holcaust people thought it was real at first untill the director proved that it was fake by bringing the actors to court with him to show that they were still alive (he had to go to court cuz people wanted to put him injail because they thought that he really had the people killed)Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yes, those were the actors used in the movie!.
I think it was not real, just made up to make some money, but they probably didn't tell the actors some things while they were filming it in order to get an authentic reaction from them!. The fact that people can't tell whether it was real or fake is a credit to the filmmakers!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
