It's really an age appropriate thing!. Kids- There was a Halloween movie about witches with Bette Midler or Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!. If it's to scare middle kids like 12-15 Halloween with jamie Lee Curtis is still a classic!. I'd stay away from the serious slasher stuff- too dangerous for that age!. A great horror film still is "Night of the living dead!."

I've just bought the GuardPost and it is fantastic, it's a horror with great elements of thriller/suspense!.

It takes a lot to scare my 18 year old but she just bought The Orphanage as it was so good!. Its subtitled if you don't mind that though!.
