Question: The Phantom of The Opera Questions, I am so confused!!?
1) Why did Raoul leave Christine at the masquerade when he saw the phantom!?
2) Did Christine go through the mirror, or did she go through the door that Meg found!?
3) Why in some versions Erik has a full mask and other version he has a half mask!?
4) Why in Hannibal, if Carlotta was gonna sing in the whole HANNIBAL costume and set, but when Christine sings it, the Performance is all enchanted and not Hannibal!?
5) Did Christine and Raoul sleep together!? "A Chorus girl who's gone and slept with the patron"
6) Whatever happen to Il Muto if christine ran off from the dressing room to go sing with Raoul!?
7) Is Carlotta spanish!?

1!. Raoul went to get a sword in order to fight the Phantom!. Although, things probably would have gone better had he just stayed there!.
2!. Christine went through the same mirror!. In the film they make it look beautiful when Christine goes through the mirror, so that we, the audience can see what she sees (or at least thinks she's seeing)!. When Meg goes through the mirror we see what the passageway and mirror really look like!.
3!. The mask is generally part of the artistic license taken with the story!. For the Broadway play, it's become well known as a half mask!. My guess is that's why they stuck with the half mask for the film!. Another theory: the mask blocks only half his face, so Christine (and the rest of the audience) can see his pretty face (Gerard Butler, that is)!. So, in that sense, Christine only sees the nice side of his face, not the part that's masked!.
4!. That has bugged me for the longest time!. The set she sings in doesn't even look like it would belong in a Hannibal opera!. Perhaps it was the only dress available at such short notice!. Or this Hannibal opera actually has this enchanted scene!.
5!. No!. This line is said because other feel the reason Raoul is so close to her (and why she's suddenly starring in the operas) is because she slept with him!. The others don't know of Christine's and Raoul's history together when they were kids!. If they did, then that idea of her sleeping with him would probably not even come up!.
6!. Guy was hanged!. I doubt the performance continued!. The audience probably left, police called and all that!.

3!. I asked a question similar to this one!. The told me that when the actor sings it is easier with only half a mask so his words come out more clear!. So somewhere along the line, someone thought of this and decided to make it only half a mask!.
