The Halloween movies are classics, and if you have the time, the tell a continuing story as a whole!. I recommend 1,2,4,5,6 for a scary movie marathon (skip Halloween 3, Season of the Witch, as it has nothing to do with the rest of the series and is terrible itself)!. If you watch the series, don't watch Rob Zombie's remake!. I enjoyed it, but it will confuse you going from that to Halloween 2!.
The first 3 Friday the 13th movies were good, especially the first one--not many people remember that Jason didn't show up in that movie (that's not a spoiler, either)!.
More recently, The Orphanage is a great scary movie that just doesn't get enough attention!. Fair warning: it IS in Spanish with English subtitles--but it's very much worth it (my wife hates reading her movies, but she loved this one)!.
Others:
Cube--twisted sci-fi horror movie!. Nice!.
28 Days Later/28 Weeks Later-- The sequel was way better than i thought it would be!. Very tense!.
Frailty--Awesome gothic horror!. Must watch!.
Hellraiser--if you need lots of blood!.
Army of Darkness--if you need a funny scary movie!.
Silence of the Lambs--more cerebral thriller, less horror, but one of the greatest villains of all time!.

I'm not into scary movies, but I love Carrie (from the 70's--cheesy and hilarious)!. Sleeping with the Enemy, Scream (the first one--not scary, but funny) and The Wall is kind of creepy!.

I'm asking the same question!.!. tomorrow is Halloween & me and my friends are watching scary movies all night at her house but we're not sure which ones!.!.!. I was thinking all the Freddy Kruger movies!.!. then Halloween & maybe some Jason !.!.!. I don't know I think the old classics are the best!.!.!.
