When Jack talks to the ghosts, are they really ghosts or is he talking to himself!? I believe I read somewhere that he is actually talking to himself somehow, but if so, how!? I don't quite understand this!.
also, the woman in room 237 (or 273, I forget which it is)!.!. anyway, was it really her who hurt Danny or was it Jack!? I know she supposedly hurt him, but is there a weird twist that in actuality it was the father!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

If you pay attention to all the ghosts, they are in front of mirrors!. The Bartender, the woman in the bathroom, Grady the other caretaker in the bathroom that spilt the drink on Jack!. Whenever he "sees" another person: Grady, Lloyd, the woman in the bathroom, he looks in the mirror because they quite simply aren't "there!."
Jack is bitter about his failure as a writer!. He is married to a woman for whom he has only contempt!. He hates his son!. In the hotel, at the mercy of its powerful evil, he is quickly ready to fulfill his dark role!. Jack's mental state serves only to prepare him for the murder, and to temporarily mislead the audience!.
It's not until Grady, the ghost of the former caretaker who axed to death his family, slides open the bolt of the larder door, allowing Jack to escape, that you are left with no other explanation but the supernatural!.

From what I remember of the film and the book, the ghosts actually exist!. Based on the "curse" of the hotel, we are lead to believe that the ghosts are malicious creatures that specifically attack (whether physically or mentally) the guests/residents!. Thus it is assumed that the woman in 237 does physically harm Danny, just as the twins in the hall mentally attack him!. Jack is also tormented by the spirits, leading him to attempt to kill his family, much like the previous guests have all done!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
Well Jack was talking to the ghosts, but seeing as is only he can see them, he was talking to HIMSELF!.[actually]
And yeah the 237 thing was kinda weird, but the lady did hurt him!. His mom blamed it on his father and he probably did hurt him but they didn't show it in the movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

No it was supposed to actually be the ghost he is talking to!. And yes it was the ghost who hurt Danny!. Jack also sees this ghost and has a little makeout scene with it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
The ghosts were real in this movie!. Even his wife got to see them by the end of the movie, when she realises that he has lost his mind completely!.
